Carpet is one of the most economical choices for flooring. It offers warmth and comfort in any living space. It, too, can go over most subfloors, and is usually, but not always, put on top of padding. Padding will increase the wear of your carpet, as well as providing additional cushion and insulation. Depending on the type of carpet, padding will vary in weight (density) and thickness. The major differences in carpet will be that of weight and fiber. The higher the weight, the more dense the carpet, thus the better quality. Carpet fibers will differ on type and construction. In any type of construction, patterns and flecks of different colors help hide traffic patterns and dirt.
